Monster from a Prehistoric Planet

Daikyojū Gappa (1967) is a tokusatsu kaiju film. Tokusatsu literally being a special effects genre, why don't we have this in english? Is it being kept out of the language by Michael Bay out of sheer terror at what I'd say about him? 'cos I'm saying it already, just in more words.

But I digress: Back to Gappa, the titular Monster from the Prehistoric Planet.

An expedition from Tokyo  heads to Obelisk Island, which a greedy entrepreneur wants to turn into an island resort. The natives of Obelisk welcome the expedition, but when two members venture into the forbidden part of the land theyfind a giant egg, out of which hatches a baby monster, a "bird-lizard". The creature is referred to as a "Gappa" by the natives, who plead with the scientists not to take the baby away, lest they anger the baby's parents. Sure enough, they take the baby away, and even surer enough two big rubber monsters are pissed about it.

Also, like Baby Godzilla, Gappa's got a real sort of ET-cute going on. Pointy, yet cuddly.
