The Odeon... NOW SHOWING

DOA

Rudolph Maté's 1950 film noir D.O.A. was largely discounted by it's contemporary critics, but has seen more interest lately as an inventive and adaptive take on the noir genre. While grim, and familiar to modern audiences after films like 'Crank' it remains an original, and very well performed lesser-known noir.

Beginning with a long, over the shoulder pan that was very original in it's time, of Frank Bigelow (Edmond O'Brien) walking down the police station hallway to report his own murder. In flashback, Bigelow tells the story of his poisoning and his quest to solve his own murder before time runs out.
