A New Zealand Film Unit Production... Artists prepare - Poets Sam Hunt and Gary McCormick. This film presents parts of their April tour of the Sound Island looking at the personalities and philosophies behind the poems and their preparations for performance. Performances are lively and gutsy and not without humour. This series features Performing artists developing works for performance. Emphasis is placed on the evolutionary process of an idea, the experimental stage, the possibilities that are discarded in the final shaping of the work. Also explored are the feelings of the artists towards their work, and the medium in which it is to be presented. Ideas generate before the camera - nothing is rehearsed. Courtesy Archives New Zealand.
