Weatherwatch - Settled Week Ahead For NZ
September 17th... It's been a while since the entire country had settled weather at the same time - and this week is our best shot of it happening as a strong high pressure system develops over the Tasman Sea. WeatherWatch.co.nz says while a few showers may linger in the east of the North Island on Tuesday the trend is for them to clear and winds to die down for most centres. "We may still have a few isolated coastal showers and certainly some coastal cloudy periods - but generally speaking the next five days look alot more settled" says head weather analyst Philip Duncan. "The strong spring winds are taking a bit of a breather - perhaps saving somer strength for October - but for now New Zealand can enjoy lighter winds moving in, far less rain and a more sunshine than previous weeks". WeatherWatch.co.nz says the latest predictions show a warm and dry weekend coming up too. Mr Duncan says with the high moving in it will mean cooler nights but warmer days. "Could be a few frosts popping up this week, but should be lighter than frosts last week. Some fog patches are also possible". WeatherWatch.co.nz says highs in spring can bring a variety of weather but as we head towards summer they do tend to bring sunnier and drier weather with moisture and clouds more likely to burn off during the day thanks to the increased sunlight.
