Plan 9 From Outer Space

The utterly infamous, reputed to be the worst ever, Plan 9 From Outer Space, als called Graverobbers from Outer Space is probably Edward D. Wood Jnr.'s most famous work. And it's no coincidence that it's his most ineptly brilliant. From actors falling over the set making it into the final cut, to an almost totally nonsense story, and Bella Lugosi being replaced half way through filming by a dentist, this doomed production was always going to be Wood's biggest failure, and one of cinema's most enduring legacies.

In California, two gravediggers are filling the grave of a deceased woman, the young wife of an old man (Bela Lugosi in his final role). Suddenly they hear a strange noise and decide to leave the cemetery. As they turn to leave, the resurrected corpse of the old man's wife (TV horror hostess Vampira) attacks and kills them. Meanwhile, in the skies nearby, Airline pilot Jeff Trent and his co-pilot Danny encounter a flying saucer.

Absorbed in his grief over his wife's death, the old man walks out of his house and into the path of an oncoming automobile. At his funeral, two mourners discover the bodies of the gravediggers. Inspector Daniel Clay (Wood's perrenial Tor Johnson), along with several police officers, come to the cemetery to investigate. Whilst searching the graveyard, Clay encounters the female zombie, who is now joined by the corpse of the old man. Clay is attacked and killed by the zombies.

Zombies, aliens, possibly dracula and cashmere go on to come together to form one of the most bizarre filmic experiences you'll ever endure.
